Summary
A rectangular hinged blue leather case for a portrait miniature of Sir George Crewe, 8th Bt. (1795 – 1844) as a Child, attributed to Anne Mee (London c.1760 – Hammersmith 1851). The case is lined with red velvet and has an oval shaped recess where the framed portrait is housed. There is a small piece of red ribbon to aid the removal of the miniature from the recess and the case has two brass hinges and a brass clasp.
Provenance
Transferred to the National Trust by the Treasury in lieu of CTT in 1985 with an endowment provided by the NHMF.
