Summary
Oil painting on canvas, Boathouse in Calke Park, by John Glover (Houghton-on-the-Hill 1767 – Launceston, Tasmania 1849), c. 1821-25. Mere Pond at Calke Park, with the boathouse in the distance on the right-hand bank, cattle in the foreground. An associated drawing for the composition can be found in an 1821 sketchbook by John Glover held in the British Museum, London (1905,0113.1.1-44). Exhibited Society of British Artists, 1824 (no.125, 'Scene near Caulke Abbey, Derbyshire') or 1825 (no.84, 'View near Caulke Abbey, Derbyshire').
