A pair of silver salvers by William Peaston, 1746, with cast openwork borders with grape vines and masks and raised on three lion paw feet, engraved with the arms Fetherstonhaugh impaling Lethieullier, for Sir Matthew Fetherstonhaugh, first Bt (1714-1774) and his wife Sarah, née Lethieullier (1725-1788).
Provenance
Purchased at auction at Sotheby's, London, 27 April 2010, lot 253 (anonymous vendor), for £6,250, with a contribution from a fund set up by the late Simon Sainsbury and with funds from other gifts and bequests.
