Summary
Victorian gold cartouche shape brooch, c. 1845. Heavily embossed with raised openwork scrolls and centrally set with a ruby and half pearl cluster, the cartouche-shaped frame with scrolling surround and royal blue enamelled field; suspending below two blue enamelled tear drops. Locket-backed hair compartment.
Provenance
Calke Abbey and contents transferred to the National trust by the Treasury in lieu of CTT in 1985 with an endowment provided by the NHMF.
