Summary
A gold cartouche shape brooch, c. 1845. The brooch is heavily embossed with raised openwork scrolls and centrally set with a ruby and half pearl cluster. The cartouche-shaped frame with scrolling surround and royal blue enamelled field suspends below two blue enamelled tear drops. The brooch has a locket-backed hair compartment.
Provenance
Calke Abbey and contents transferred to the National trust by the Treasury in lieu of CTT in 1985 with an endowment provided by the NHMF.
