Summary
Victorian gold mourning pendant, circa 1886. Of oval shape, the hair locket centre mounted with a polished rock crystal cabochon bearing the monogram J.H.C. in a royal blue enamelled garter surround bearing the motto 'TO.MEMORY.DEAR', the reverse engraved 'Sir J.H.Crewe, 9th Bart. Born Nov. 18th 1824. Died March 1st 1886.' Fractured glazed cover to the locket back. In a fitted case by Collingwood & Co.
Provenance
Calke Abbey and contents transferred to the National Trust by the Treasury in lieu of CTT in 1985 with an endowment provided by the NHMF.
