Summary
A large oak 19thC fourposter bed in pieces. A pair of square oak head posts; a pair carved of oak foot posts with carved circular feet; four pieces oak which form frame for the base of the bed; side pieces; end pieces; centre piece; collection of slats united by canvas strips; headboard, elaborately carved crest with scrolls and acorns stained black oak banding, padded; 4 cast iron wheels on brackets and two pieces of wood; 4 pieces of wood which form the frame for the tester, one piece fitted with curtain rail; three pieces of wood forming tester, grained with black gadrooned borders, each has a moulded cornice and double acanthus leaf crest, carved paterae on ends of end piece.
Provenance
Transferred to the National Trust by the Treasury in lieu of Capital Transfer Tax (CTT) in 1985 with an endowment provided by the National Heritage Memorial Fund (NHMF).
