Summary
Wooden clapper in the shape of an arm. Around the wrist are four incised lines. The shoulder is curved and has a puncture hole, which would have attached this to another clapper as part of a pair. Ancient Egyptian, it would have been used as a percussion instrument as part of ceremonies, processions and rituals.
Provenance
Calke Abbey and contents transferred to the National Trust by the Treasury in lieu of CTT in 1985 with an endowment provided by the NHMF.
