Summary
Aquatint, sepia coloured, (after Claude Lorrain) by Richard Earlom (London 1743 – London 1822). One of two sepia coloured aquatints by R. Earlom after Claude Lorrain published in 1774 by J. Boydell. The original drawing belonged to the Duke of Devonshire. In the foreground a young couple drive a cow, donkey and goat along a road between ruined classical buildings. In the background are more figures and buildings. Cut to plate mark. b) a similar print with an estuary and a classical portico to the left. In the centre figures are conversing and others load a boat behind. Ships are moored along the opposite bank. Cut to edges.
