Summary
Print, etching, Kenilworth Castle from the South (after Thomas Smith of Derby) by François Vivarès (Montpellier 1709 –London 1780). Second of a collection of seven 18th century engravings. Views of seats. (b) 'Kenilworth Castle from the South' by F. Vivares after a painting by T. Smith. The Castle, in semi-ruinous state stands in the centre of the picture with cattle grazing in front and figures admiring it from behind a fence in the foreground. An inscription reads, 'Kenilworth Castle from the south, situated between Warwick and Coventry, belongs to the Rt. Hon. the Earl of Clarendon and Rochester'. Narrow margin.
