Summary
Print, etching, A View of Dunnington Cliff on the River Trent (after Thomas Smith of Derby) by François Vivarès (Montpellier 1709 –London 1780). First of a collection of seven 18th century engravings. Views of seats. (a) A View of Dunnington Cliff on the River Trent', by F. Vivares after a painting by T. Smith. To the left of the picture is a waterfall and to the right a lock gate beyond which animals graze in a field. In the centre are two large trees and two men in a boat. An inscription reads, 'Dunnington Cliff, on the River Trent, belonging to the right honourable the Earl of Huntingdon, to whom this plate is inscribed by his Lordships servant T. Smith'. Published 1745. Narrow Margin.
