Summary
Print, black and white aquatint, A cart-horse named 'Elephant' (after Robert Dodd) by Charles Catton the younger (London 1756 - New Paltz, Uppper New York State 1819). Pubished by F. Jakes Jan. 1792. The horse with front leg raised is facing a man who approaches with a bowl of grain and a rope. Inscription reads 'Elephant a cart- horse, 4 years old, the property of Thomas Alsop Esq. of Marylebone, one of the most boney horses and of the greatest bulk for his length in the kingdom'; followed by a list of his dimensions. Good margin.
