Summary
One of a pair of parquetry commodes of bombe form with serpentine shaped fronts each fitted with three long drawers. Panels to fronts and sides veneered with cube ornament and circular oval floral medallions and Van Dyck-pattern corners. Surmounted by shaped giallo marble slabs and on tapering legs. Neapolitan c1770.

Marks and inscriptions
Inscribed a) all three drawers numbered several times in pencil, ink and crayon all marks modern. On the interior of the top drawer, in [felt tip] pen 'P andS lot 25 [below] 18/3/91' At the rear, on upper sinister corner an earlier, now partially erased [inventory] mark. Needs UV light to make readable.
