Summary
Print, engraving, View of Chelsea and Battersea, from East Wandsworth (after Joseph Farington) by Joseph Constantine Stadler (b.Germany - fl. London 1780-1812). Ridge of hill in foreground, behind which fields, cows and a belt of trees lead on to river. On far bank a series of large houses backed by trees and hill. Upstream a bridge crosses river. Two churches amongst group of buildings with tile roofs on right. Within black line and grey wash borders. Inscribed: 'View of Chelsea and Battersea, from East Wandsworth.' Mounted and glazed in black and gold Hogarth frame. One of a set of 15 aquatints (see NT/COO/D/3a-o).
