Summary
Print, engraving, View towards Bassilden (after Joseph Farington) by Joseph Constantine Stadler (b.Germany - fl. London 1780-1812). Trees in foreground, some of which dead, on hill which descends steeply to valley below. River winds along valley floor to hills beyond. Boat sailing on river. Occasional house and a church on river bank. Within black line and grey wash borders. Inscribed: 'View towards Bassilden, from Streatley Hill.' Mounted and glazed in black and gold Hogarth frame. One of a set of 15 aquatints (see NT/COO/D/3a-o).
