Summary
Print, engraving, View of Reading from Caversham (after Joseph Farington) by Joseph Constantine Stadler (b.Germany - fl. London 1780-1812). River in centre of picture, crossed by substantial arched bridge with a gate house at either end. On near bank, road in centre foreground disappears between trees and houses. On far bank, road leads to town along skyline. Within black line and grey wash borders. Inscribed: 'View of Reading from Caversham.' Mounted and glazed in black and gold Hogarth frame. One of a set of 15 aquatints (see NT/COO/D/3a-o).
