Oil painting on panel, Alessandro Farnese (1635-1689) as a Boy (after Sustermans) by Francesca Neville, after Justus Sustermans (Antwerp 1597 - Florence 1618), inscribed on a label on the back, in italian: 'Portrait of a little boy (unknown), Sustermans of Antwerp, copied from the Uffizi Gallery in Florence by Francesca Neville 1913'. A three-quarter-length portrait of a boy wearing seventeenth-century dress and carrying a plumed hat in his left hand.
Provenance
Bequeathed to the National Trust, along with the house, furniture and other contents collected by Sir Walter Jenner, 2nd Bt (1860 - 1948), in 1949.
