Summary
Oil painting on millboard, View of a Street in a Mediterranean Town by Germain Fabius Brest (Marseille 1823 - Marseille 1900), signed bottom right: F. Brest (?). A view of a street with a tall tower, minaret (?), on the right and a double towered church, up a stepped street, to the left. The artist lived in Constantinople (Istanbul) between 1855 - 1859 and had previously travelled in Palestine and Syria.
Provenance
Bequeathed to the National Trust, along with the house, furniture and other contents collected by Sir Walter Jenner, 2nd Bt (1860 - 1948), in 1949.
