Summary
Oil painting on panel, Christ comparing Himself and his Disciples to a Hen and her Chicks, Netherlandish School, circa 1600, signed (?) BND/MBD on reverse of panel. The biblical scene depiicted is Christ standing with his disciples as recounted in the New Testament gospel of Matthew (23:37). Saint Peter and another are seated apart in the centre and middle distance. On the left a hen with young is seen in the foreground and a walled medieval town with a hill in the middle of it and a castle on top, presumably representing Jerusalem, can be seen in the distance.
