Watercolour on paper, The Reverend John Coleridge (1718-1781) getting onto his horse outside the Old School House, Ottery St Mary by Circle of Thomas Hearne, (Avon 1744 - London 1817), Ottery St Mary schoolhouse with Samuel Taylor Coleridge’s father, who taught there, mounting a horse outside. A well-known picture in Coleridge studies because it purports to show John Coleridge (Coleridge's father) getting on his horse, and is the only image of him. A 20th century line drawing derived from this picture has been much reproduced.
