Ink illustration for page 26 of The Tale of Ginger and Pickles (or page 22 of the 2002 edition), "'It is very unpleasant, I am afraid of the police,' said Pickles". Ginger and Pickles watch a policeman from the shop door. Pickles is worried because he cannot afford a dog licence. The book was published October 1909.
