Ink illustration for page 24 of The Tale of Ginger and Pickles (or page 20 of the 2002 edition), "As there was always no money, Ginger and Pickles were obliged to eat their own goods". Pickles eats biscuits and Ginger eats a dried haddock. The book was published in October 1909.
