Summary
Label associated with a watercolour and bodycolour study painted over an opaque ground (in the manner of William Henry Hunt), of the fungus Fly Agaric (Amanita muscaria) with polypody fern, beech leaves, ivy leaves, mosses and the lichen Peltigera canina. Dating from c 1890, this is a composed study, as the plant material originates from differing habitats. The label is written in ink in Beatrix Potter's handwriting 'Toad-stools drawn from nature by Beatrix Potter' on discoloured card.
