Summary
Watercolour and bodycolour study painted over an opaque ground (in the manner of William Henry Hunt), of the fungus Fly Agaric (Amanita muscaria) with polypody fern, beech leaves, ivy leaves, mosses and the lichen Peltigera canina. Dating from c 1890, this is a composed study, as the plant material originates from differing habitats.
Provenance
This drawing hung in the Tower Bank Arms, Near Sawrey, until 1984 when it was removed to controlled storage.
