Summary
Watercolour drawing of the range in Hill Top kitchen.This is the range that was in the house when Beatrix Potter bought Hill Top and that she had replaced in the 1920s. The drawing is inscribed in pencil in the bottom right by Beatrix Potter - Old grate at Hill Top Farm. This is probably a preliminary drawing for the illustration HIL.RP.642 which appears as the frontispiece of The Tale of Samuel Whiskers. Dated c1907.
