Summary
Drawing in black ink for the privately printed edition of The Tale of Peter Rabbit. Peter's coat and shoes are hung up on posts as a scarecrow. Five birds sit around the bottom of the post and another sits on the scarecrow's arm, while Mr McGregor works in the garden in the background. There is a correction in white paint to the two blackbirds to the right of the scarecrow. See also HIL.R.1, the manuscript into which this illustration was originally attached.
