Summary
A set of three off-white transfer printed commemorative mugs to celebrate the coronation of Queen Elizabeth II on 2nd June, 1953. Image on the front shows the Queen in profile with crown above and the wording; CORONATION JUNE 2ND 1953. The image is surrounded by the wording; HONI. SOIT. QUI. MAL. Y. PENSE. Underneath is the wording; H.M.QUEEN ELIZABETH II. With flowers and flags on each side. On back is printed a crown and underneath; E II R. On base is an image of a kiln and the maker's mark reading; Burleigh Ware / BURGESS and LEIGH / ESTD 1851 / BURGLEIGH / ENGLAND. Also official mark of a union flag surrounded by a belt within which is printed; OFFICIAL DESIGN / BRITISH . POTTERY . MANUFACTURERS . FEDERATION.
