Summary
Print, The Artful Dodger, from Oliver Twist by Charles Dickens by Joseph Clayton Clarke 'Kyd' (fl.1882-1899). One of a pair of large dark brown frames with gilt decoration each containing three watercolour caricatures, signed Kyd. Outside ones large rectangular, central smaller and square. Contains from left to right - man cleaning boots, fat man with eyeglass titled in pencil Micawber, man smoking a pipe titled The Artful Dodger. On the reverse side in pencil is written Lord Wraxall and a white label with black printing - FROST and REED LTD. Either side of badge is - BRISTOL / CLARE STREET / LONDON / 41, NEW BOND St. SW1. In pencil 9599 and 16.5.52. Across label in a green stamp is FRAMED BY ALBERT STUDIOS.
