Summary
Oil on canvas, Antony Gibbs (1756–1815), attributed to Edward Patry RBA (London 1856–1940) after John Downman (1750–1824), circa 1926. A half- length portrait, in profile, the subject looking left, wearing a brown coat, against a black background within a feigned oval in brown. Associated with Patry's full-length portrait of Gibbs, c. 1926 (NT 22839).
Provenance
Purchased by the National Trust from the estate of the late George Richard Lawley Gibbs, 2nd Baron Wraxall (1928 – 2001) with the assistance of the NHMF, Art Fund and donations from members and supporters in 2002.
