Summary
Walnut caned 'backstool', late 19th /early 20th Century. The sunk square seat with criss-cross patterned rails is supported by twist-turned H stretchers, rear stretcher and raised front stretcher linking twist-turned front legs on ball feet. The baluster-turned rear legs rise to form twist-turned uprights with turned finials flanking a scrolled cresting rail centering on a stylised flowerhead. The frame containing the two cane panels below is plain save for further criss-cross decoration. Restorations. Rear of Right upright initialled TB. See W.F.66.
