Summary
Oil painting on canvas, Still Life with Flowers, Orfèvrerie and Sculpture, on a Rug, by Jacques Hupin (active third quarter of 17th century), signed J. Hupin. A still life with flowers, a sculpture of the goddess Diana, a Nautilus shell with Cupid, assorted jewels and orfèvrerie (gilt metal objects), on a Turkish carpet richly draped over a pedestal. An overdoor painting set into panelling (paired with NT 220756). Jacques Hupin specialised in opulent still-lifes of gold and silver plate, fruit, flowers and Turkish carpets. He was active in Auxerre and Rome during the third quarter of the 17th century. See C. Salvi, D'après nature.
