Summary
Oil painting on canvas, Queen Elizabeth I (1533–1603) by Marcus Geeraerts, the younger (Bruges 1561/2 - London 1635/6). After the Ditchley portrait of the Queen, painted in around 1595 and named after the Oxfordshire seat of Sir Henry Lee (the Queen's companion and Master of the Armoury).

5th Earl of Hardwick, Wimpole Hall, sold 30.6.1888; lately of Horham Hall, Thaxted - a fortified 16th century hall visited by the Queen; bought at Trembath Welch Showrooms, Great Dunmow, Essex 11.11.2002/purchased 4th December 2002 by Wimpole Hall, lot 1250 at Gorringe's Auction Gallery, Thaxted, Essex (Christie's lot number on back).
