Summary
A mahogany open armchair, English, late 18th century. One of a pair. The toprail serpentine, edged with scrolls and with foliate-carved corners. The rear uprights moulded. The baluster-shaped splat pierced and interlaced. The serpentine-fronted drop-in seat, upholstered in brown plush and between moulded open arms. On square-section legs joined by an 'H'-shaped stretcher. Once with spandrels at the top of the legs, now lacking.
