Summary
Bust, pearlware, depicting Minerva, standing on a socle with rounded front edge and convex sides, she looks to her proper right, wearing a helmet with plume, a sash draped over her right shoulder, she wears a garment gathered at her neck, armoured breast plate with boss in the form of a mask at its centre, sash over right shoulder, possibly by Enoch or Ralph Wood, Staffordshire, 1790-1810; decorated with coloured glazes and enamels, the socle painted in red, blue, yellow and black to imitate variegated marble, her helmet in green and white with red plume, her breastplate green and painted with scales, her sash in puce.
Provenance
Part of the Bambridge Collection. The hall and contents were bequeathed to the National Trust in 1976 by Mrs Elsie Bambridge (1896-1976)
