A large black-lip pearl oyster shell (Pinctada margaritifera), commonly referred to as a mother-of-pearl shell. The interior of the shell displays a high degree of iridescence. The exterior is also iridescent, and varies in colour from black to pink, with the area around the valve white. There is no indication of the shell's provenance. .
