Summary
Plaque, lead-glazed earthenware. Decorated with pink lusterware iridescent glazed border. Transfer-printed excerpt from a religious hymn in centre within black wreath of foliage and flowers. Scott's Southwick Pottery, Sunderland, England, c.1840. The printed excerpt is from Charles Wesley's hymn, How Happy Every Child of Grace (1759): "How happy every child of grace, Who knows his sins forgiven! This earth, he cries, is not my place, I seek my place in heaven; A country far from mortal sight; Yet, O' by faith I see The land of rest, the saints' delight, The heaven prepared for me."
