Summary
Plaque, lead-glazed earthenware. Decorated with pink lusterware iridescent glazed border. Transfer-printed excerpt from a religious hymn in centre within black wreath of foliage and flowers. Scott's Southwick Pottery, Sunderland, England, c.1840 The printed excerpt is from Charles Wesley's hymn, Let us Join Our Friends Above (1759): "Even now by faith we join our hands, With those that went before; And greet the blood-besprinkled bands On the eternal shore. O that we now might grasp our Guide! O that the word were given! Come, Lord of hosts, the waves divide, And land us all in heaven!"
