Summary
Orphrey - Long panel of crimson velvet with applied motifs of scrolls, flowers and leaves in linen and silk fabrics. 16th Century, with later repairs. Border of repeated quatrefoils and leaves. Linen corded edging. Backing of ultramarine blue glazed linen, constructed of three pieces patched together. Heavy lined tacking threads. Worn condition, with two circular stains and six holes on backing. One hook. Likely to be of Portuguese origin. Chapel textile.
