Summary
Orphrey - Long panel of crimson velvet, heavily embroidered and couched with gold silk, with appliquéd braid motifs. 16th Century, with later repairs. Design shows stylised reliquaries and fish, with faces of saints removed. Two of head and shoulders, and two of heads only. Edged with flat fringing of blue and gold. Heavy linen backing. Worn condition. Likely to be of Portuguese origin. Chapel textile.
