Summary

1908, 'The vallum and fosse of Avebury on the east and north-east, looking northwards. The road in the foreground makes a breach through the east vallum. The material of the stone wall was no doubt the result of vandalism in the circles. Photographed in early morning light.' From notes: v1.10the S rampart with pond and road looking N. Sun out. 8am.stp.3.5 1.5 secs or less. nb plate glass negative loaned to RCHM by M Pitts for storage in early 1980s.
