Summary
Locomotive plate. An oval, brass maker's plate from a railway locomotive, no.864, built by Black, Hawthorn & Co. in 1886. The plate has a polished brass raised border, raised inner oval border and lettering, and there are two fixing holes. The background is painted black. The locomotive was a 0-4-0T, No.18 at Beckton Gas Works in Essex. It was damaged by enemy action in 1941and was scrapped in 1959.
