Summary
Locomotive plate. An oval, brass maker's plate from a railway locomotive, no.1427, rebuilt by Manning, Wardle & Co. Ltd. in 1916. The plate has a polished raised border, raised inner oval border, and lettering, and the background is painted red. There are two fixing holes. The locomotive was a 0-4-0ST No.9 at Beckton Gas Works, Essex. Built in 1899, it came to Beckton from Nottinghamshire in 1946, and was scrapped in 1961.
