Summary
Railway signalling instrument. A Great Western Railway block instrument for obtaining a key. The body is in box form with a semi-cylindrical top. It is made of cast iron and has four attachment lugs at the back. The front has a raised rectangular plate with two apertures, one showing the numerals 1, 2, 3 obtained by turning the kaey, the other indicating 'free'. Below the plate is a key slot and, below that, the operating instructions cast into the body. The instrument is painted red with black back, base and front, and white lettering.
