Summary
Ivory Chalice, German School, 19th century, previously attributed to François Duquesnoy (Brussels 1594 – Leghorn 1643), called Il Fiammingo. An ivory cup elaborately carved with infant bacchante, the stem formed as a putto supporting a cornucopia on octagonal base.
Provenance
Purchased, the Bohn collection, £36. Then incorrectly attributed to François Duquesnoy, called Il Fiammingo (Brussels 1594 – Leghorn 1643) then purchase from the estate of the late Lord Wraxall with the assistance of the NHMF and donations from members and supporters.
