Summary
Rocking horse. A hessian rocking horse with hair hide attached, late nineteenth century, on a wooden stand, with sparse, coarse hair main. Painted brown nostrils, open mouth and painted hooves. Bolted to a wooden frame by the front and back hooves. Curved rocking frame attached to main cross support with two U-shaped metal bars. The eyes are missing.
Provenance
Part of the collection on loan to the National Trust from Newport Museum and Galleries. In March 2012 the National Trust took over the management of Tredegar House with its contents and its 90 acres of gardens and parkland, from Newport City Council for a period of 50 years.
