Summary
Painting. An oil painting on canvas, Lady Rosamund's Dappled Grey Mare with Head Groom at Tredegar House, Monmouthshire by James Flewitt Mullock (Newport 1818 - Newport 1892), 1851. A dappled grey mare, facing to the right, with bridle and saddle and held by a groom, wearing a black top hat, with a black dog to his left. Rosamund Mundy (d. 1883) was married to Sir Charles Morgan Robinson (1792 - 1875).
Provenance
Bonhams Knightsbridge, Victorian and 19th Century Continental Paintings, 28.6.1999, lot 66. Part of the collection on loan to the National Trust from Newport Museum and Galleries. In March 2012 the National Trust took over the management of Tredegar House with its contents and its 90 acres of gardens and parkland, from Newport City Council for a period of 50 years.
