Summary
Painting. An oil painting on canvas, Sir Charles Morgan, 2nd Baronet (1760-1846) presenting a spotted Shorthorn Bull to King William IV (1765–1837).
Provenance
On loan from the National Museum of Wales (NMW A 3857, given by Mr B. Mountjoy 1952). In March 2012 the National Trust took over the management of Tredegar House with its contents and its 90 acres of gardens and parkland, from Newport City Council for a period of 50 years.
Marks and inscriptions
On back of canvas: Bull presented by Sir Charles Morgan of Tredegar in Monmouthshire to King William IV in the year 1836. The picture was painted by permission of the King and represents his Majesty, Sir Charles Morgan, and John Engall, bailiff to their Majesties George III, George IV and William IV. The daughter of John Engall was maid and faithful friend to Mrs George Thomas of Ystrad Mynach
