Summary
Painting. An oil painting on canvas, a seated half-length portrait of Lady Katherine Agnes Blanche Carnegie, Viscountess Tredegar (1867 - 1949), wearing a green jacket, trimmed with brown fur at the neck and the cuff, in front of a red background, by Augustus John, RA (Tenby 1879 – Fordingbridge, Hampshire 1961) signed in red, bottom left, c1920. Lady Katherine, Viscountess Tredegar, faces to the left, her hands, clasped, resting on a table. She wears a green ring and green ear-rings. Within a modern, gold-painted frame.
Provenance
Part of the collection on loan to the National Trust from Newport Museum and Galleries. In March 2012 the National Trust took over the management of Tredegar House with its contents and its 90 acres of gardens and parkland, from Newport City Council for a period of 50 years.
