Summary
Painting. An oil painting on canvas, a full-length equestrian portrait of Colonel Frederic Courtenay Morgan (1834 - 1909), in hunting pink, mounted on horse and facing towards the right, in front of Ruperra Castle with his Daughter, The Hon. Violet Wilhelmina Morgan, The Hon. Mrs Basil St John Mundy (1860 - 1943) mounted, behind him to the left, 1893/4. There are Hounds in foreground and Ruperra Castle in the background, to the right was his home. Within a gilded Victorian frame with laurel leaf moulding, bead and rail moulding and corner cross banding.
Provenance
Part of the collection on loan to the National Trust from Newport Museum and Galleries. In March 2012 the National Trust took over the management of Tredegar House with its contents and its 90 acres of gardens and parkland, from Newport City Council for a period of 50 years.
