Summary
Painting. An oil painting on canvas, a head and shoulders portrait of Courtenay Charles Evan Morgan, 1st Viscount Tredegar (2nd Creation), OBE, CBE, K.J. St. J., FRES, FSA (1867 - 1934) as Master of Tredegar Hounds. Courtenay Morgan, dressed as Master of the Tredegar Hunt, wearing hunting pink, white stock and riding hat, a hunting horn inside his coat. Indistinct background of stormy sky. Within a Victorian, size-gilded frame, with rosewood flat and embossed leaf pattern and barley twist to outer edge.
Provenance
Part of the collection on loan to the National Trust from Newport Museum and Galleries. In March 2012 the National Trust took over the management of Tredegar House with its contents and its 90 acres of gardens and parkland, from Newport City Council for a period of 50 years.
