Summary
Ceiling. A tempera on plaster (?), painted ceiling depicting a group of cherubs carrying garlands of fruit and flowers set against the sky and framed by a border of foliage amongst which are hidden a monkey, squirrel, a pair of doves and an exotic bird. Much restored, dates to late 17th century.
Provenance
Part of the collection on loan to the National Trust from Newport Museum and Galleries. In March 2012 the National Trust took over the management of Tredegar House with its contents and its 90 acres of gardens and parkland, from Newport City Council for a period of 50 years.
